Super Maisie

Someone mentioned that Maisie's red jacket looked like a Superman cape. That's exactly what she needed and her Auntie Reg was happy to oblige and take some pictures in action :-).

It's Super Maisie!

Ready to zoom in and assist the Farm Police whenever and wherever needed.

Until she has another wardrobe malfunction.

A Maisie Monday

Yes, this is our same wee lambie.

Here is a cute video of her playing in the yard with me yesterday.  Thanks Valerie!  I'm glad you didn't have to witness either a heart attack or broken ankle from "running" in clogs ;-).

I've had several questions lately that I haven't answered yet, including some about her tail, which she features strongly in the video :-).  I'll do a question/answer post later this week.  Have a question (Maisie, big sheeps, fiber, farm, bees, my excellent cooking skills...)?  Leave it in the comments section on the main blog or drop me an email.  I do answer all emails...if I don't lose them between the computer and iPad.  That means if I haven't answered you in a reasonable amount of time...please send it again.  Sigh.

Sunday Stills - The Letter F

Freshly shorn Fleeces from a Friend.

Border Leicester lamb - one of B. Willard's cousins :-).

Our Favorite lamb, supervising.  She weighs 20 pounds now!

A Border Leicester cross.  Very pretty.

The locks from the underside look like crinkle cut French Fries :-).

I had great hopes for this beautiful black Border Leicester fleece.

But it should have been shorn last fall and the ends are so dry and sunbleached :-(.  See the lanolin?  The shine in the black wool that was closest to the sheep's back.

When We Last Saw Our Heroine...

...there was a hint of trouble coming down the lane.

"Are you one of those mean cats that beats up my best friend Betsy?" Maisie asked.

"We hate Betsy!" Claire Bear growled.

"Betsy told me if I ever saw you that I was sposed to run away!"

"Real fast!"

"It's a good thing I'm a really fast runner!"

"Boing! Boing! Boing!"

"I can run so fast my ears bend backwards!

"Wheeeee!"

"Did you see how fast I ran, Momma?"

"Now I think I'll just have a little taste of this grass here."

"Ha ha! Just kidding!"

"Wheeee!"

"Boing! Boing! Boing!"

"Left turn!"

"Here I come!"

"Wheeeee!"

Pffft!

"That's what I have to say to anybodies who thought I couldn't put together two good days in a row!"

"Wheeee!"

"Wheeee!"

"Wheeee!"

"Wheeee!"

Looks like something's coming down the lane.  Stay tuned for Maisie's next adventure!

This is a kind of wonky picture, but I love her big eyes and the piece of grass hanging from her mouth :-).

Maisie's feeling great!!!

Head Splort Alert!

"Sometimes when me and Betsy take naps we sleep in our hay house in the kitchen."

"But our favorite place to take naps is on the couch."

"Betsy's a great pillow!"

It's been a cute evening on the couch :-).

A Very Pretty And Special Thing

Annette Browning of Kentucky Blue Fiber Co. had the most beautiful shawl on display at the Kentucky Wool Festival this past fall.  It was very unique, hand crafted and I couldn't keep my eyes off it.  At the end of the weekend I asked her if she would be interested in making a custom shawl for me.  From someone very special.  She said yes.  It arrived the other day.

Thank you Annette.  There are no words.  It's beyond beautiful.

Sunday Stills - Big Sky

So for this challenge use the rule of thirds and set your horizon in the bottom third of the pic and get some great sky shots. Day or night, cloudy or sunny. Cool blue or white from total cloud cover or spotty clouds. Even use sunrises and sunsets, the possibilities are endless….

Not exactly what I was hoping for but I am so tired of missing Sunday Stills.  This is my favorite time of day and I do love to see the sun set over the side sheep field...

So No One Has Maisie Withdrawals

Not to short change the bee party, but this is what I found when I came in from feeding this evening.  Yes, this is our kitchen. In the house.  Not the barn.

It's a good thing she's cute ;-).
