Sunday Stills - Fences

Being in the heart of the bluegrass, fences are near and dear.

Many farms are double fenced for the safety of their horses. It used to be on the books (and may be still) that stallions must be behind a double fence, if they are next to a road, as well.

Black paint has become trendy, but to me, white is classic.

Early morning work out at the training center.

A trifecta - a triple fence.

Young thoroughbreds grazing in the morning mist.

As the trees grow, they push out the stone fences. I was sad to see the litter in this shot :-/.

The famous white fences of 800 acre Calumet farm stretch for miles near the center of Lexington.

And back out to the country.

For more Sunday Stills...

Wow! Such pretty fences in your area. Most of ours out here are so rustic compared to yours. The stone walls are beautiful, too.

Great captures!

Beautiful photos! All those white fences show pride of ownership.

I agree that those fences should be white.

I kept reviewing your pix, thinking "this is my favorite," and "this is my favorite," and finally gave up. They are all so peaceful looking.

Now. Take a sip of coffee before you press any button on your keyboard.

I've always wanted to see those Kentucky fences. Wonderful pictures, makes me want to see them in person even more.

Beautiful fences for your rolling contryside. Were I to visit Kentucky, I'd come home with hundreds of shots of fences. And most ofthem would be white - I hope.

You are definitely in the land of fences! I remember how amazed I was when I visited with the layers and layers and miles and miles of them there are. Great job explaining and photographing them!

Great shots, Sara! I like the tifecta best-you can never be too safe! That fox in yesterdays post has enormous ears! The better to listen for Hank...
I caught a glimpse of the "I Know It's What They're Supposed To Do" shot of Keebs-can you believe it's the same lamb? He was just so tiny-I remember the day you took him home. Kathy and I looked at him and said "That lamb is going to be spoiled ROTTEN!!!" Prophets, we are.

Impressive variety of fence photos, each one carried a different perspective so a favorite is hard to choose. Glad you captured all of these fence treasures... some to keep things in, others to keep things out.

Beautiful pictures - thank you for sharing.

I am thinking of you today and hoping you are doing ok... Have been thinking of you for a while. Want to let you know I think you are a great animal mom, and I know you do the very best you can. :)

Speaking of fences, have you thought of getting some Premier eNet, and a little charger, for the little charges? Ours has worked GREAT and we are in the middle of nowhere, with dogs, foxes, coyotes, bears, and (apparently) wolves roaming around. Also use it for our pastured poultry.

Kiss the babies for me and you take care.

Gosh these are beautiful..your words as well. I like that mist and the trees pushing out stone fences. I wouldn't of noticed the litter. I hate that. Months ago some idiot dumped two large backs of trash in the bushes. My car is small (trunk) and I kept putting off doing anything. Well I can see the garbage breaking through (yikes)!! So I take my morning walk but in nags me when I see it!

I toured the Calumet farm on one trip to KY when visiting KHP. I was disappointed, I thought we would see more horses, but it was a beautiful farm. I thought the fences were so serene when driving around the area.
