Boys And Their Toys

Possibly the cutest thing Hank does is collect toys. Toys that we give him (chew bones, leather horse shoe pads given in a desperate attempt to distract him from the horrible white dog in the yard...). Toys that he finds (sticks, rocks, banana peel stolen from the chickens...).

He is very careful with his toys and I just love walking out to check the sheep and finding a new stash spot. Sometimes they are all out by the gate. Sometimes out by the trees. Always together. And, I'm not sure if you can see in this picture, but the grass is usually flattened out around there. I think he sleeps with his toys.

Is that not just the cutest?

Yesterday morning I noticed that I'd left the arena gate open the day before. Hank had very carefully gathered up all the obstacle cones and brought them to the gate. How helpful!

Or not. They were chewed to pieces.

Oops.

Isn't he amazingly smart!? He likes to collect...just like so many of us.

Hank is very clever and obviously doesn't lose his toys.
We had a pup hide his goodies under our old porch. When he got older, he couldn't get under there. When we built a house and dismantled the old porch, he found his stash. It was so funny to watch him with his long lost toys. I really think he remembered them :)

That is SO sweet. I have a basket that I put the kittens' toys in--- what a waste of time. They just help themselves and scatter them again. Hank seems much more organized and thoughtful about his things.

LOL, Willa does the same thing! We accidentally left a leash out hanging on the fence Thanksgiving Day. Destroyed in minutes.
