There is no benefit to wind damage. The trees suffer, the fences they fall on suffer, the birds building nests suffer... While I'd like to not find any nests on the ground, I'd like to think that maybe the bird who was constructing this would take a little comfort in knowing her talent and hard work was much admired.
I'm assuming this is a Baltimore Oriole nest, knitted/woven with green hay string, white threads from a feed sack, horse hair, sheep wool and even some flower fluff.
"I think I'll crochet a green edging."
"And I'll add some white down here at the bottom."
"With some wool to help anchor at the top."
"And some curls to pad out the bottom."
"And I'll anchor the bottom with a feed sack string."
Such handiwork.

Wow, what a talented bird. Love the crocheted green edging.
Wow...that is so awesome. This little bird's hard work (and obvious creativity) really touched me . Thanks for sharing!
