For some reason Maisie was just not able to fully process the lamb milk replacer. And while it was keeping her alive in the beginning, between her rapidly declining digestion, bone and joint compromise, hair falling out and no telling what else going on we couldn't even see, I would be very surprised if Maisie was still with us if Natalie and Lou
hadn't hooked us up with the kind folks at Happy Goat Hills Farm.
The goats originally started as a 4-H project for son Jacob but have now become a full family project, complete with breeding, milking, selling offspring (just didn't seem right to say "selling kids" ;-), soap making...and just plain enjoyment.
Might there be some cookies in those pockets?
Ladies in waiting. Knowing full well there are cookies in the milking parlor :-).
"Hey! Let me in! I want some cookies too!"
I think this was the doe they let come in at the end even though she isn't milking yet. I think everyone got a cookie before it was all over. Sound familiar? Our kind of people :-).
This is Peaches on the milking stand.
But Bambi has decided she doesn't want to go up on the stand any more so Steve kindly milks her on the floor.
And then cuts up an apple for her afterwards.
The white board, with upcoming due dates.
I can't take your picture if you keep sticking your nose up to my camera lens, silly baby.
So pretty.
And you two too.
It's obvious their animals don't like them much, eh ;-).
Nice farm, nice goats, nice people. Thanks for including Maisie in your big, happy family!
Besides saving sick lambies, goat milk makes wonderful soap. Happy Goat Hills Farm has several new flavors curing, but have really nice lavender and lilac soaps ready now and have shared a few bars. Let's give a big shout out of thanks to Bambi, Peaches, Jennifer, Steve and Jacob!
If you are unable to leave a comment, drop me an email (thecrazysheeplady AT gmail DOT com) and I'll include you and on Wednesday we'll have Maisie draw for a couple winners :-D.

What a lovely family. Good people attract good people. IMHO.
Goats are the funniest things. A friend, who had a milking herd, had one named Snickers. She stood right up on the fence and was in my face. So I blew on her, thinking that would disuade her. Nope. Apparently one of the daughters spit peppermints at her and she was expecting a peppermint from me! What a hoot!
Goats are so much fun..they are like having hooves puppies for pets! I'm so glad you have the milk for Maisey
