Making a trip to the North American International Livestock Exposition is always a fun day. I have no interest in showing, but I can appreciate the work that goes into it and love to look at all the pretty sheep.
And even though I'm a wool girl, I have a soft spot for these big Ewen McTeagles (Suffolks ;-).

See the huge sheep a few pens away? Yes, that huge white shape is a sheep. He'd be even bigger if he was looking up. He's otherwise occupied...not by choice.

Dianne and I enjoyed our day off. Well, I guess it wasn't technically a day off as we researched sheep, checked out the wool show, talked "festival", looked at sheep panels, tilt tables, did some Christmas shopping...
Choose a job you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life. Or something like that ;-).

If that Border Collie had spots on it's face I would think Dollar snuck out for a road trip.
That little ram was gutsy! That is for sure...silly guy. I'm glad he was in in own pen!

Yes, If I had known what a wonderful life farming was early on, I wouldn't have spent so many years doing other things.
I would love to see a show like this. I have only been to our local goat show and it's was a wonderful way to learn breeds and see beautiful animals.
Glad you had fun. And yes, that little sheep was taking on more than he could handle. Glad there was a pen inbetween.

When I first glanced at "The North American" I thought you were writing about the Open North American Sled Dog Race that we have here. I'm a little slow this morning without enough coffee!

I have never seen a sheep that big... And talk about being stupid, or maybe he just has a huge ego and was raised with great self-confidence!

How many times have I heard about carving a perfect (insert species here) out of a pile of (wool/hair/fur). Gotta wonder about that one sheep's ruler-sraight topline?

Were the little woolie ones Shetlands? One I would like to see (and get my hands in their fleece to see what it's like) is a Gotland.

Love your post about sheep! One of my 4-H kids has a Suffolk Ram that is huge like that too. His head is up to my chest/shoulders. I LOVE the cute dog picture! Sounds like a fun day! Blessings from Wisconsin
Did you get to see the fleeces? My friend Kris sent 5 fleeces out for the show. She placed first in all of her classes, and took Grand Champion. Needless to say, she is thrilled almost beyond words.

That Border Collie stole my heart! And those sheep. Wow. I was struck by the long haired ones. They had me laughing out loud. : )
Too funny! I'm guessing "lil Red" got all that confidence from the gate that separated them! Without the gate? i doubt he'd have such courage. (or who knows, maybe he heard you had your camera and this might be his big break?)
What a fun day! Wish I could have been there too. That Tunis reminds me of the old Looney Tunes cartoons where the little weasel tries to eat Foghorn Leghorn.
