Guaranteed To Melt Your Heart

I took a super sweet iPhone picture of Maisie and Hank the other day (probably my all time favorite) and posted it on Twitter. I had taken a few shots with the "real" camera too and hoped I'd gotten the same or better, but the late afternoon sun was so bright even in the shade that I couldn't say for sure.  I finally downloaded the pictures and wheeeee :-D.

Weaslie and I had walked out towards the Frog Pond to see what everyone was up to.  Hank was happy to see us coming.  Note Hershey grazing nearby...but Daniel and Chocula, no way!  I'm not sure what makes some sheep love Hank and some sheep scared.  That's Renny in front, Lila and Henrietta on the right and Maisie behind the tree.

Of all the NY sheep, only Marcel and Hershey have loved Hank.  And they love him dearly.  The rest, even though they were all raised the same and have had the same experiences, have never, even after all these years, accepted him.  Rebecca Boone "plays" with him sometimes, but honestly I'm not sure she's playing.  Hank thinks she is though, so that's our story... ;-).

I sat down under the big sycamore tree, leaning back against the fence.  Weaslie busied herself in the creek and Hank came over and crashed out next to me.  Eventually the rest of the sheep headed back to the barn, but Maisie decided to stay out with us and wandered over.

Maisie loves Hank.  Hank loves Maisie.  And while he won't let her eat from his food bowl, he will let her eat his grass pillow :-).

And if your heart wasn't already in a big puddle, a Hank kiss :-).

I was a little surprised to see that Renny had stayed out with Maisie and Hank.  Renny doesn't fall into the dog=bad camp, but is a little cautious around Hank.  I think she understands him though and appreciates his hard work.  And he takes good care of her...and everyone else...even if they don't think so ;-).

Have a good weekend!
