Yarn [Over] And Over And Over And Over...

I might be able to knit a sweater successfully, but give me a simple pair of fingerless mitts and it's apparently like Kryptonite to Supermaisie.  I pulled off the first one just fine, even adjusting the pattern to fit my big thumbs, and thought I'd be flying through the second one...and that'd be where I was wrong.

I was dying to get something on my needles once the wool festival was put to bed.  I thought some fingerless mitts, the Sweet Fern Mitts from The Knitter's Book of Wool in particular, would be just the ticket.  I had extra yarn leftover from the Jester sweater that would be perfect and some fingerless mitts might come in handy this weekend if I was say, spinning someplace colder than Kentucky ;-).

I've lost count of how many stupid mistakes, tink backs, rip outs and drop downs this poor mitt has had to endure.  It's ridiculous...but it's knitting, so everything is indeed always fixable.  It has crossed my mind though that this may be  to be result of bad knitting karma from telling Stella she needed to rip her hat back and go down a needle size the other day.
