Only Maisie could show up at one of the biggest equine centers in the country and find a veterinarian on staff in rotation from the University of MN who had experience with ruminants.
She was a very good girl, standing still so they could take multiple pictures. None gave us any definitive information, but we did get to ask a lot of questions about size and shape of her insides and what the chances were of it passing or staying put and how invasive the surgery options were...
Surgery is not a good option. Staying in the rumen isn't great either, but would probably be okay for awhile.
Passing it on through would be best...if it passed without trouble. So, we wait and watch and watch and watch. Maisie has no idea why momma is hanging out with her so much, but she thinks that's pretty great. Momma just wishes beyond wishes that she was hanging out just for fun.
Here's a shot of us riding over to the clinic in the back of the horse trailer. She did a great job :-).
"Thanks, dad, for taking the afternoon off to drive me to the clinic. It was much less scary with my mom there."
