Sunday Stills - Signs Of Fall

It's a tough call as to which is more of a sign of fall, changing leaves or goldenrod.

A chance to hit three Sunday Stills challenges in one picture - (wal)nuts, silhouettes and fall ;-).

Recognize this character?

I ended up standing right next to these two. Now I might live in the country, but believe you me I can scream like a city girl. Actually, I didn't, but you can believe I did curse Ed under my breath after I jumped back and caught it (my breath, not the snakes!)

These last two pictures look more like Christmas, but are definitely signs of much needed fall preparations for winter.

And a reminder for those of us who enjoy making Christmas gifts that time is flying by.

Did you just jump back and scream like a girl? ;-)

I love seeing the goldenrod this time of year.

That goldenrod picture makes my eyes itch just looking at it! Good capture!

The snakes slinking through the weeds was a lucky catch! Did you have a zoom lens on to take that shot or were you really that close? The shot is really clear so you must have not been shakin' the camera when you took it. Brave lady!

You wouldn't believe what can come out of my mouth when I see a snake.

A quick answer to your Q on my blog. Geese mate for life and when you see the odd one out it probably means they have lost their mate..

Silly, silly Ed. When you see geese flying in formation with one side longer than the other?

That means there are more geese on that side ;-D

Golden rod is one of my favorite fall flowers. Good job!

Is that a Queen Anne's lace all curled up on itself? The shape is right, but I haven't looked at mine here closely enough to see the little seedy things.

I am very sad to see Ed's comment that my Solitary Goose (http://aginggratefully.blogspot.com/2009/09/canada-geese-know-more-than-i.html) might have been searching for his mate.

I'm so glad we don't have snakes; but we have plenty of spiders! Your walnut tree reminded me to check if they are ready here yet, one lady graciously told me I can pick all I want from her tree.

Great goldenrod photo, I thought right away "Duh!" should have thought of them myself!

I'm most definitely not a fan of snakes myself, but that's still a cool photo...they're suspended in the grass and weeds; kinda cool.

All are really good examples of fall, but the golden rod and berries are so lovely. And the snakes a good surprise shot!

Yes, I screamed...there should be some kind of snake warning..I always thought it should be mandatory that they wear bells.
Your Goldenrod and your berries are lovely:)

I wish there weren't so much goldenrod at this time of year. A sure sign of fall. Sniff.

Yeah, I screamed too! You have captured the essence of Fall!

Beautiful shots as always! I did jump and say something I can't repeat here when I biggified the snake picture... I come from a long line of snake sissies and I'm proud of my heritage. :o)

I love the snake shot. I have a theory that men hate snakes because snakes have two penises (penii?). lol

This pair look like they are all snuggly making fertile eggs for baby snakes for spring. Then they will eat mice and bugs and things. : )

Catching that snake is pretty cool. I can't remember to point and shoot, when I see a snake.
