Festive

Now that sheep are sheared, I can't be as happy about seeing a little snow.  Most of them are just fine, but the old guys don't want to leave the barn and I don't blame them.  They can stay in and eat hay, watching snow tv from their bunks.  This bizarre cold snap will be over soon.

I stayed very conscious of not letting myself get excited about the snow showers yesterday even though secretly I was.  What better way to end the Iknitarod than with a couple days of bonus snow?  Still, a part of me felt a little guilty about not enjoying it just the same.  Until I did evening chores.

As I tucked hay into the sheep shed and fed my two skinny girls some extra "cereal", I caught a flash of white out in the arena.  Hank.  He'd pulled a chew bone from his hidden stash and was flipping it up in the air, running circles around it, bouncing on it, flipping it up in the air...  He sure wasn't going to miss the opportunity.  And I joined him.

From the window of the Mobile Knitting Unit yesterday.  I took several other pictures throughout the day, but need to Git Ta Knittin' this morning!  I'm almost done.  I finished the sleeve bands last night and then slogged through several rows of garter stitch around the bottom of the body.  After two days of small sleeves, those long rows...whew!
