A Good Omen

The day started fairly early.  Well, early for me by the time I got the barn chores done, grabbed an extra cup of coffee, got Maisie settled out in the yard...  I finished spinning the last few ounces I didn't get finished last night and then wound those three bobbins into center pull balls so I could try to match up thin skeins with thick skeins, early spinning with later spinning, hoping for a fairly consistent plied yarn.

And, uh oh, she found the strawberry beds.  Not that long ago I could hold her in one hand.  Seriously.  She was asleep and I balanced her curled up sleeping body in one hand.  Not today.  She wasn't taking kindly to "Maisie, please walk away from the strawberries." so I had to pick her up and carry her away.  I could barely pick her up and she was Not Happy being told what to do.  She ended up in prison.

"I hate this place.  That lady can't really be my mom.  My mom would let me eat strawberries.  I wish that stupid Border Collie would let me out of here."

Meanwhile, back inside...42 ounces ready to ply.  And it took me longer than I'd hoped.  Of course.  Sigh.  As the clouds formally known as the sun set, something magical happened.

IT STARTED TO SNOW!!!  (A good omen, eh?)

I practically flew through the last few skeins.  Well, mostly because Saint Tim helped keep the balls of singles organized and free of tangles...after he helped me do the evening chores, and brought home a pizza, and some beer, and some chocolate ;-).  He's the best :-).

A little over 1800 yards of yarn washed and drying and ready for the start of the Iknitarod tomorrow!

I'm excited...and at this point, sorta hopeful.  And if there was ever a sheep who'd have been all about a challenge like this, it would have been Marcel.  He was a fearless go getter!  Woolliam (20% of the fiber blend) on the other hand would probably find this mostly just inconvenient to his napping/eating schedule.  And that's why we'll call this the Marcel sweater ;-).
