Or, I guess maybe with sheep it's getting your ears raised ;-). Shearers Bill Haudenschield and Gavin McKerrow were here yesterday. Here are a few quick pictures.
Pretty Popcorn PeePee Pants, a Border Cheviot and one of our first bottle babies. Could she really be almost 10 years old?
They started with our friend Rebecca's five sheep. Our tall fatties are
always a shock, but had to be especially after her three tiny
Shetlands.
"Hey! I'm not fat. I'm just fluffy!"
Graham, they just cut all the fluff off. You're fat. And this is an exceptionally flatteringly thin photograph of you!
Who do you think this is?
Beanie Baby, with his big horns.
Maisie, watching until she got bored.
"I'm glad that's never going to happen to me!"
Maisie, you have beautiful wool and next year you'll get to be in the video.
Here's Blossom. All grown up and getting her first hair cut. Just a head's up - she gets a tiny nick on her (fat) side. Absolutely nothing to worry about. I don't think she even noticed and I'd bet it will be hard to even find the spot this morning.
Ewen McTeagle, completely ignoring the Nistock contingency getting ready to duke it out behind him. I'm not sure if it's general grumpiness from "being starved half to death for 24 hours before shearing" or because everyone looks different, or without all that wool they feel so spry (and fat :-o), but some rumbling after shearing is not uncommon.
I didn't get any great "after" shots, so I'll try to do that this afternoon. For the most part I think they all look better nekkid, but I have to say, I miss Blossom's fluffy little chipmunk cheeks :-(.
