Yarn Along - With A Giveaway

Yeah, I know it's Thursday again, but I going with it's better to be late than not show up at all. Plus, I have some fun yarn pics to share and some actual yarn to share!

So the other day I mentioned the Baa-ble Hat KAL (knitalong) getting ready to happen at/with Meridian Jacobs.  It starts the 24th (details here) and is going to be tons of fun.  That's a super nice and interesting group of shepherds and fiber artists, so even if you aren't interested in joining the KAL, you should go check them out.

If you are interested in knitting a Baa-ble hat, but just needing someone to twist your rubber knitting arm, here are just a few of the well over 3,300 finished hats listed on Ravelry.  They are everywhere...and you can see why - just could. not. be. any. cuter.  By the way, I stole this picture from h2onina this a.m.  I'd have called and asked, but it's waaay earlier out there ;-).

I dyed night time colors for my first Baa-ble hat and had so much fun doing that that I was almost more excited about getting to dye some new colors for my new KAL hat (I don't even know who I am anymore haha ;-).  I went way out on a limb...and dyed some spring day time colors (yeah, I'm still me ;-).

Hmmm, those colors sure look familiar don't they?  Oh, for knit's sake...  How about stretching just a little?!?  That purple hat  on the top with the border collie that you like so well?  The sunset hat on the bottom?  All you can come up with is green grass and blue sky???  The same green and same blue as you did before???

So I dyed another skein...and at least made some purple for flowers.  That's different...ish.

See how the two greens match the lavender plant by the window?  The darker green matches the old growth and the light green matches the new.  Right???

Yeah, I'm right, but do hats really have to match real life?  Could I not venture out of my comfort zone just a tiny bit???  It's a good thing the hats are small and fun.  My next combo will be very different...ish.  I promise.

In the meantime, I now have an extra Baa-ble hat "kit".  If you'd be interested in making a hat with green grass, blue sky, yellow dandelions and white sheep with black faces and legs (and black spots if you'd like!), leave a comment telling us your favorite color and I'll draw for a winner on Friday evening.  If I get it in the mail Saturday morning, you should have it in hand by the 24th even if you live in a way earlier time zone ;-).

The drawing will be for one skein of white Lamb Camp yarn and one skein of dyed Lamb Camp yarn.  You'll need to download the pattern (it's free) and have your own needles (I am using a size 5, but definitely swatch first) so I guess it's not technically a kit...

I finished (finally) Major Pettigrew's Last Stand yesterday and loved it.  The story, not that it was finished.  I hated that the story was over ;-).  I think my next book is going to be The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

My favorite colour is teal or aqua, but I wouldn't like my lambs in any of those colours! ;)

I wouldn't think I'd want that either, but there are several with sheep done in bizarre colors and they are actually pretty cute...surprisingly ;-).

I added your name to the drawing with the email comments :-).
